Student Leadership in Practice
Structured Peer Leadership in Action
The Live Free Adolescent Recovery School Based Peer Recovery Model™ emphasizes structured, supervised peer leadership development within clearly defined school boundaries.
Student leadership is not informal peer support.
It is a guided, adult-supervised component of a broader implementation framework designed to reinforce school connectedness, communication skills, and early identification pathways.
How Peer Leaders Are Supported
All peer leadership activities operate under:
• Adult supervision
• Defined scope and limitations
• Clear referral and escalation procedures
• Documentation standards aligned with school policy
• Ongoing training and reinforcement
Peer leaders are trained to understand what they are
responsible for — and what they are not.
Student Leadership Media Initiative Student Leadership Podcast
As part of supervised leadership development, some peer cohorts
participate in structured media projects —
including podcast discussions focused on topics such as:
• School connectedness
• Positive peer influence
• Leadership development
• Help-seeking awareness
• Student voice within defined boundaries
These projects operate within adult supervision and follow
established safety and content guidelines,
AND REQUIRE WRITTEN PARENTAL CONSENT
Why This Matters
Research demonstrates that adolescents are strongly influenced by peer norms. When peer engagement is structured and supervised, it can reinforce positive behaviors and encourage earlier adult involvement when concerns arise.
